Remarkably Bright Creatures

Title Design + Animation

Adapted from Shelby Van Pelt's beloved novel, Remarkably Bright Creatures is a 2026 Netflix drama directed by Olivia Newman. Sally Field leads the cast as Tova, a widowed night cleaner at an aquarium who strikes up an unlikely bond with Marcellus, a sharp-witted octopus who narrates the story. To bring the film's tone to life, the team — working closely with the director and editor — crafted whimsical animated titles that echo Marcellus's fluid movements and capture the shifting mood and landscape of the film. Subsequently, the titles were submitted by Netflix to the Television Academy's FYC section.

season 5

Trixie Mattel and Katya talk about Beef.

Trixie Mattel and Katya chat about Heartstopper Season 2.

Trixie Mattel and Katya check out Love is Blind Season 4.

For Season 5, the theme revolved around 1960’s Ad Age bold graphics with a distinctly drag flare. The opening title highlighted the queen’s silhouettes and the lower thirds combined simple geometric shapes with crisp typography. The interstitials combined both the geometric shapes and silhouettes, thus closing the circle of design.

seasons 3&4

Trixie Mattel and Katya speak about Pose Season 1 & 2.

Trixie Mattel & Katya chat about Grace & Frankie Season 7.

For Pride month, Trixie Mattel and Katya check out Legally Blonde.

For Season 3 and 4, I was tasked at creating a “Palm Springs Meets Vintage Store Desert Haze.” With a backdrop of a bunch of flea market oddities, the two hosts are introduced by neon gradient lower thirds influenced by 1980’s graphics. The title treatment also grabs onto the neon theme by using beauty iconography as graphics.

I LIKE TO WATCH LIVE

For a very special episode of I Like to Watch, Trixie and Katya reviewed the Black Mirror episode “Joan is Awful.” Filmed in front of a live studio audience at the Paris Theatre in New York City, the design packaged was used both in the edit as well as the collateral surrounding the event.
