I Like to Watch is a award winning Netflix web series hosted by drag queens Trixie Mattel and Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova (affectionally known as Katya). The premise consists of the two hosts reacting and reviewing Netflix films and television shows. I was asked to create the title design as well as the graphic package whose theme is constantly evolving. In 2023, I Like to Watch won two Webby Awards (Webby Winner and People’s Voice Winner) in the Television & Film / Social category.

season 5
For Season 5, the theme revolved around 1960’s Ad Age bold graphics with a distinctly drag flare. The opening title highlighted the queen’s silhouettes and the lower thirds combined simple geometric shapes with crisp typography. The interstitials combined both the geometric shapes and silhouettes, thus closing the circle of design.
seasons 3&4
For Season 3 and 4, I was tasked at creating a “Palm Springs Meets Vintage Store Desert Haze.” With a backdrop of a bunch of flea market oddities, the two hosts are introduced by neon gradient lower thirds influenced by 1980’s graphics. The title treatment also grabs onto the neon theme by using beauty iconography as graphics.
I LIKE TO WATCH LIVE
For a very special episode of I Like to Watch, Trixie and Katya reviewed the Black Mirror episode “Joan is Awful.” Filmed in front of a live studio audience at the Paris Theatre in New York City, the design packaged was used both in the edit as well as the collateral surrounding the event.
